I wonder. If Tyler is becoming an elder or something darker...

Fire starting seemed to be considered an evil power. Phoebe's past life. Phoebe as Queen. Then there was Christy with fire I wonder...

In Christy's defense, she was only evil, because she was kidnapped and brought up wrong (not that this excuses her, but it does explain her). Had she been raised by her parents things would likely have gone much better for both her and Billie. Phoebe's past life was corrupted by a warlock who she thought loved her (evil can't love so he didn't) and although her powers were amplified, she likely still had fire power when good (assuming she was, which I kind of do assume). And did Phoebe show fire power before she was pregnant? If not, the power was probably her son's (hers and Cole's, not the Seers, I might add). That kid never had a chance, but if he had been born I think he would have retained his powers and been raised good. No power is evil (well, there are some I'm iffy on such as the ability to cause someone to experience their greatest fear). It's all in how you use it and I think all of those characters could still have been good and had their fire powers. The show just didn't show that.

I also don't think Pat will make Tyler evil. I think something else is going on.

The power of fire isn't evil at itself. But even the Charmed Ones named it "demonic power".
The connection between fire and evil seems to be current in the "Charmed"-Universe.
But the exception proves the rule. ;)

Oh, the past life of Paige was able to conjure the elements. So fire was a part of her and she was evil too...

Pat mentioned something about different species of magical beings. Something which Prue is to now. So maybe that's what's happening here. It reminds me of the whole Avatar situation in S7.
