There will be spoilers below soon but before you scroll down just a note that #4 contains huge spoilers! So if you plan to buy the issue/buy the issue soon, i think especially for this issue it's worth it to wait and don't spoil it for yourself.

Here's a brief synopsis of the latest comic - MAJOR, MAJOR spoilers here.

The comic opens with one of Paige's charges, Aidel, being kidnapped by Valen.

The next few panels from the preview, with Leo and Henry shown to be taking care of the children in Cupid's Temple.

We then go to night time at the Manor where Phoebe and Cole have their heart to heart. He asks Phoebe if she is happy; she tells him she is. He says he always imagined he'd be selfish and kind when they spoke about this but tells her she has to tell her not a day goes by that he doesn't wonder (about them).

The next panels show the middle of the night. Phoebe is awake in bed; Cole is awake downstairs thinking; the rest of the Manor is asleep (Coop, Piper and Paige).
Alarms go off - it is Valen, hacking into their TV mystical connection they set up with Prue. They see he has Paige's charge (Aidel) and he tells them he wants them to come to the cemetery in thirty minutes and that Coop and Cole are welcome to come along.

At the cemetery they fight with Valen. He has zombies rise up to fight off the sisters and Coop and Cole. Aidel also fights, though he is tied up, and distracts Valen briefly.

Before Valen can kill Aidel, Coop attacks him and the two scuffle a little before Valen gets the best of him and throws the Athame at him.

Cole, watching them, jumps in front of the athame to save Coop and it hits him in the chest. The girls defeat the zombies in time to turn and see Cole's skin cracking before he says Phoebe's name and falls to the ground.

*Oops, should be Cole imagine he would be selfless and kind, not selfish!

Oh my God! I'm speechless.. It was all great.. The art, the story! Pat is a genius.. He didn't show us all the conversation between Pheobe and Cole so I think we will have flashbacks in future issues! The last page is heartbreaking!! Pheobe face expression is perfect! I'm wondering what is going to happen.. About Cole and his father! Pat made Cole an hero.. I hope it's not the last we see about him :( in any case, Cole had the (potential) end he deserved.. Not a monster but a great man!

Is Prue in the issue??? O_O

What a waste I was hoping Coop dies I know I'm selfish. Maybe they will do a Dallas on us and the whole season is a dream or one big premonition.

    pruefan4life (Wednesday, 21 January 2015 16:59)

@julie the dream twist has been so overdone that i am horrified(!) by the thought of Charmed taking that route ::shudders::

    pruefan4life (Wednesday, 21 January 2015 17:00)

@jluengo26 sadly, Prue is not in the issue :(

    cyma (Wednesday, 21 January 2015 17:28)

As usual, I couldn't resist and read the spoilers! Before I go and scream at the sky or something, I wonder Prue being creepy will also be cause of this cause now she'll be all alone with no Cole :-(

    jluengo26 (Wednesday, 21 January 2015 17:34)

Too bad, I wanted my Prue's day seeing her in the issue... but she is in the next, that sure (thanks the plot of 10x05). I think this whole thing (Cole's death and the distance of her sisters) we give us a creepy and depresed Prue... :(

    Julie (Wednesday, 21 January 2015 17:41)

It just seems like a waste we got him back for a bit in season 9 and in 10 Pat decides to get rid of him in issue 4 in 10 although I think Cole's in #5 which I have no idea if he somehow survives this or he will appear in flashbacks like Hershel did in TWD.

    jluengo26 (Wednesday, 21 January 2015 17:51)

Sadly, I think this is the end for Cole... that is so sad! But when this happen in a series always brings new things...even Prue's death in season four (I hated that, by the way) but helped a lot to the sisters in many ways. This time this death will have consecuences in the four sisters... and i think for Prue's 'life' this is huge.

    Henry (Wednesday, 21 January 2015 18:10)

The synopsis of issue 5 says that Cole will make a decision.. I don't think he's in the position of decide something so I think we'll see a flashback of his last night with Phoebe.. We think he said her how much he loves her but I think he said her to bring his father back in case something would go wrong.. So in issue 6 Phoebe will travel to realize his last desire.. That's what I think!

Cole's death is something really frustrating to read... and it was so repetitive (sorry for the rant). But seriously, again???

One will die and one will rise. Cole is dead, now who will rise in his place...I wonder if that has something to do with his father.

The battle between the charmed ones and the zombies was good?? What powers are used by the Charmed ones?

  • #21

    Julie (Thursday, 22 January 2015 00:38)

What a waste you bring him back just to kill him again whatever happened to what the fans want?

    pruefan4life (Thursday, 22 January 2015 05:12)

This fan was quite moved by the tragic yet fitting end for the hero that was Cole Turner.

    Kelly (Thursday, 22 January 2015)

Such a same hes gone, and also that Prue wasn't in the issue, like I know she can miss issues, but come on a big event like Cole and shes nowhere to be seen.

But shes in the next one, and of course Cole will be in this next one as a ghost or something.

    Julie (Thursday, 22 January 2015 15:28)

He didn't die a hero. If he was a hero there would be a reward awaiting him in the afterlife like other hero's die in mythology but the athame destroyed his freaking soul so he's just dead it's still a waste in storyline.

    p3nathan (Friday, 23 January 2015 01:27)

Being a hero is doing something that isn't about you or what you get out of it. He saved a life, he saved Phoebe's family; the father of her children. The fact that he did that knowing there was no reward for him is beyond heroic! But even so, I'd argue that saving Phoebe's love and therefore the happy life that she built, is, in itself, reward enough from Cole's perspective... because he really does care for her that much. This was the most epic, undeniable display of Phole love that the series has ever had.

Not to mention a clear display of how much Cole has development. What we saw in season 5 was obsession: he would do anything to be with her, even if it meant hurting her and the people she loved. Now he's willing to sacrifice himself to protect Phoebe's happiness and love, even if he is not the main recipient of it... now that's love!

I agree with everything you said @p3nathan. I didn't like Cole's death at all, but in the comics universe he didn't die as bad guy and it was a good thing.
I'm just a little curious about one thing. Chris went back in time to change the future. Piper used Coop's ring to save her sisters in the end of the show. Her sisters died, but her souls still existed. What happened to Cole was much worse. Why they would let things as they are? I mean, he died as a hero, fightinh evil, protecting Phoebe's happiness. Doesn't he deserve that they at least try to change his fate? Isn't he worth the risk then?
He did a sacrifice and it was beautiful. And what about the Charmed Ones? What are they gonna do now? Because I think there are ways to save or at least try to save his soul. I really want to see their reaction. It's just an opinion ;)
I'm sorry for my english. It's not my first language.

Oh, I'm sorry, forget everything I said. I read something in tumblr. Someone asked to the writer about "travel time".
The writer really doesn't want to bring Cole's back. It seems he created a backstore, or something like this, to do it impossible. Unfortunatelly, I lost my interest after reading this, Cole is my favorite and I won't keep reading a story where his soul was destroyed. I still think it could be reversed, but it's the writer's decision and I'm glad that he's being honest about it. I really wish lucky and inspirition to this writer. He seemed a nice person and very accessible to readers.

Finally got my hands on the issue. After going through the last part a gazillion times and reading the summary of the next issue which says 'Cole makes a decision', I think Cole isn't soul dead. Yet. He just gets stabbed, his skin crackles, he falls down and then the issue ends. We don't see him crumple into dust or anything or go poof. And he makes a decision in the next issue, so he's still alive. Or dead alive or whatever.

Piper might've frozen him. Or maybe the stick Valen was carrying which he used to freeze Coop, maybe the Charmed Ones use that to freeze Cole or a spell. Maybe the decision Cole makes in the next chapter is whether to finally let him go or something.

Here's keeping my fingers crossed I'm right because if the Ancient Athame kills kill, then Cole wouldn't be making any kind of decisions in the next issue now would he?

    cyma (Friday, 23 January 2015 19:29)

Perhaps to be saved from the effects of the ancient athame he's finally allowed to move on to the afterlife or something?? With his Dad? Can't wait for the next issue!!!

I have a question say one of the Charmed Ones got stabbed with the Athame instead of Cole would the remaining two find any way possible no matter what the cost or how long it takes to fix all this to save the power of 3?

  • #31

    p3nathan (Sunday, 25 January 2015 02:52)

I doubt there is a way. That's why the stakes are so high with the Athame, if Valen gets a sister with it, she's gone.

Not really a spoiler, but did anyone else think that the ages of the children looked a bit off? I guess it is tough to draw, but the girls all suddenly looked a lot older and Chris actually looked older as Wyatt.

Yeah and Henry jr is practically the same.. He should be 2/3 years old!

A the end of this issue I wanted to cry :(. Cole was a character you either loved him or hate him. He been through so much, and to have this unique character, a demon with a soul to have it destroy is sad. I didn't see this coming. A good twist in the Charmedverse.

Oh come on Cole again dead, yes he is a hero, but I really was hoping that it was Coop. Most people anyway dislike him. Very disappointed.
